Rep. Christopher Donovan (D-Meriden) and Senator Toni Harp (D- New Haven) and an aide from the Mayor of New Haven's office attended. Senator Harp encouraged people to continue to tell their recovery stories and offered her continued support in achieving the goals of the recovery community. Representative Donovan told people that it’s important to continue telling their stories to make the issue real, saying, “It is going to take all of us working together to improve the services for addicts . We need to keep swimming.”

The Recovery Bill of Rights was introduced at the meeting and Rep. Donovan and Senator Harp backed up their words of support by signing the Candidates Pledge at the end of the town hall meeting. A story in the Record Journal included some of the stories of people in recovery. CCAR’s Jaime Simmons organized the town hall meeting and was responsible for getting the candidates, attendees, and media to arrive for a great voter education session.
