Training: Know Your Rights – the Legal Rights and Responsibilities of People with Alcohol and Drug Problems

The Legal Action Center presented this training in 2006 at eight locations around the country. It provides individuals in recovery, their friends, family members and advocates with valuable information about how they can use State and Federal anti-discrimination laws to remove barriers (including those caused by criminal records) to employment, housing, public benefits and other services. The Legal Action Center, which developed this training, is a national law and policy organization that fights discrimination against people in recovery from alcohol and drug problems as well as people with criminal records. For information about the federal anti-discrimination laws covered in the trainings, you can read the brochure, Know Your Rights.
