Training: Our Stories Have Power...A Media Workshop for Recovery Advocates
About Joe Powell

I am a grateful recovering alcoholic/addict who has been spiritually led to advocate and provide recovery supports for those affected by addiction and co-occurring substance use and mental illness. As Project Director for the Association of Persons Affected by Addiction (APAA), Chairman of the board for NAMI/DCAA and a board member of the National Leadership Council for Behavioral Health for African Americans, I see the Recovery Movement as the priority and recovery as a reality for millions in America today. We must tell our stories and give recovery to ourselves, families and communities what addiction has taken.
