Training: Science of Addiction Recovery Train the Trainer 2006

On June 3rd Faces & Voices of Recovery held a pilot “train-the-trainer” event about the science of addiction recovery in Falls Church, VA. The event was co-sponsored with SAARA, NCADD-Maryland, NAADAC and the Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center. At the 2005 Faces & Voices of Recovery Summit in Washington, DC, recovery advocates were inspired by the presentation of National Institute on Drug Abuse Director Dr. Nora Volkow. This training developed advocates’ knowledge and understanding of the science of addiction recovery with the latest scientific information presented in ways that you can use in your advocacy. The goals of the train-the-trainer event were to:

  • Develop your knowledge and understanding of the science of addiction recovery
  • Find out the latest information presented in language you can understand and use
  • Learn how to communicate and inform others about the science of addiction recovery and increase public support for recovery.

The training was led by Trainer and Recovery Advocate Flo Hilliard. Below are the materials handed out at the trainings
