Invite your US Representative to a Congressional briefing on recovery support services sponsored by Faces & Voices of Recovery and featuring recovery advocates from around the country. On Thursday, September 28th Faces & Voices will join forces with the Congressional Addiction, Treatment and Recovery Caucus to bring a luncheon briefing about recovery support services featuring Don Coyhis from White Bison (Colorado), Beverley Haberle from PRO-ACT (Pennsylvania), Eva Marie Seneca, who received recovery support services and has moved off welfare to a sustainable job, and Phillip Valentine from Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR). This important event marks the first time that members of Congress will be able to learn from the recovery community how recovery support services work and are making it possible for people to get on their lives and build communities of recovery.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

1. Make sure that your member of Congress or his or her staff attends the briefing by sending them an invitation today. We need your help to get as many of members of Congress or their staff to attend. Please use this invitation to email an invitation today. To find your member of Congress go to: http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/. We will be sending out a list of RSVPs as we get closer to September 28th so that you will know if your member needs to be reminded to attend. We will also be sending out a list of members who attended so that you can thank your member if he or she attended or sent a staff member.

2. Use this opportunity to build a relationship with your member of Congress. Let them know about recovery support services that are available in your community by inviting them to come and see what you are doing to promote recovery in your community.
