Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act of 2007

The House Committee on Education and Labor’s Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee held a hearing on H.R. 1424, "The Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act of 2007 on July 10th. The hearing was the third and final House hearing on the bill, which now must be “marked up” before moving to the House floor for a vote. We’ll keep you informed as the bill moves forward. Among the witnesses testifying in support of the bill were its primary sponsors, Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) and Rep. Jim Ramstad (R-MN). They were joined by Former First Lady Rosalyn Carter and the son of the late Senator Paul Wellstone, David Wellstone, and other witnesses. You can view the hearings on an archived hearing webcast and get copies of the statements by clicking here.
