Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act moving!

House action on H.R. 1424, the Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act moved one step closer when the House Committee on Education and Labor voted 33-9 to approve the bill after the Committee heard from First Lady Rosalyn Carter and David Wellstone about the need for action this year on the bill. Prompt action in the House is critical because of all of the different competing bills as this session of Congress begins to wind down. Before H.R. 1424 can be voted on by the full House of Representatives, it must be approved by the three committees that it was referred to. The House Education and Labor Committee vote marks the first time a House committee has approved parity legislation, according to an article in Join Together.
