Wellstone/Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act
The federal government is seeking public comment, called a Request for Information, as it develops regulations for implementation of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act.
The Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services and Treasury are the three government agencies responsible for implementing the law, which would begin to end insurance discrimination facing people with private health insurance who are seeking coverage for addiction and mental illness. They are seeking information and advice about the best ways to implement the law, including the development of regulations.
Comments on the request for information are due May 28, 2009.
