Washington, DC-based Research Analyst at the Sentencing Project
to work on the organization's varied public education and advocacy activities in the areas of sentencing, incarceration, racial justice, and collateral consequences of incarceration. The research analyst will work in our Washington, D.C. office as part of a program team engaged in policy-relevant research and public education. Responsibilities include:
- In conjunction with senior staff, developing a research agenda for the organization
- Producing briefing sheets, policy reports, journal articles, and op-ed commentary
- Preparing policy summaries and commentary for website
- Communicating research findings to public audiences and media
- Keeping abreast of policy and program developments in the field
Qualifications
Desirable skills and experience include the following:
- A graduate degree with a minimum of five years relevant experience in research and public policy
- Strong writing and editing abilities
- Good working knowledge of the criminal justice system
- Strong quantitative skills and ability to analyze government and academic data and reports
- Ability to communicate research findings and policy implications to a broad audience
- Demonstrated commitment to reform and racial justice.
Salary
Commensurate with experience and duties. Current benefits package includes three weeks vacation; health, dental, life and disability insurance; contribution to 403(b) retirement plan and
Metro transportation subsidy.
