eNewsletter - January 8, 2010
A new year is underway and Faces & Voices board of directors and staff will be working with you over the next 12 months to make it possible for more of our family members, friends and neighbors to find and sustain their recovery from addiction to alcohol and other drugs.
I’d like to welcome Andre Johnson of the Detroit Recovery Project to our board and thank you for all of your support in 2009. Because of your generosity, we were able to match the generous $20,000 gift from an anonymous donor in our end-of-the-year campaign! While we deeply appreciate your financial support, we will be calling on you for your gifts of time and talent throughout 2010.
The time is ripe to repeal discriminatory laws that have been keeping people in recovery from jobs, drivers licenses, education and housing! And we want to make sure that people seeking recovery with private health insurance take advantage of the hard-won victory to end insurance discrimination.
We are announcing two new full-time positions in this eNewsletter. Please let us know if you’re interested or pass the announcement on to others. This new staff will allow us to do so much more to build the capacity of recovery community organizations around the country and carry out campaigns like the 2010 Recovery Voices Count that you’ll be finding out more about over the coming months.
We’ve set a goal of 100,000 people speaking out for recovery at 90 events for the September 26, 2009 Rally for Recovery! during Recovery Month. We look forward to working with you this coming year to make recovery a reality for even more Americans.
All the best,
