June 23 National Criminal Justice Commission Act Call-in Day
Mark your calendar for Wednesday, June 23 rd for a National Call-in Day to support the passage of the National Criminal Justice Commission Act this year!
Congress is close to passing a law that would create a a bipartisan Commission to review and identify effective criminal justice policies and make recommendations for reform. This is an important step in addressing and reversing policies that are keeping people in recovery from getting their lives back on track.
In 2009, Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) and 15 bipartisan cosponsors introduced the National Criminal Justice Commission Act, S. 714. Since then the Senate Judiciary Committee has reviewed and favorably passed the bill and it is now awaiting passage out of the United States Senate.
The National Call-in Day has been organized to urge the U.S. Senate’s leaders to prioritize and pass this important legislation! We’ll be sending out more information about the Call-in Day on June 22 nd. In the meantime, you can find out more about the bill here.
