Faces & Voices elects officers and welcomes new board members
Faces & Voices is pleased to announce the election of its new officers – Steve Gumbley, chair; Dona Dmitrovic, vice-chair; Phillip Valentine, treasurer; and Bobby Coffey, secretary; and welcome in-coming board members Mike Adams and Donald Whitehead. At its July 31, 2010 meeting, the board also recognized the outstanding leadership of outgoing chair Carol McDaid. Faces & Voices 21-member Board of Directors advises and directs Faces & Voices of Recovery. Our thirteen regional representatives are working to link recovery advocates within their region and build our national movement from the grassroots up.
Rally for Recovery! and Recovery Month
September’s just around the corner and we’re excited about all of the walks, rallies and other events that are being organized around the country. This year’s September 25 Rally for Recovery! national hub event will be in Philadelphia. Find out more and register at PRO-ACT's Recovery Walks! Our goal this year is over 100,000 people at events all across the country as well as events in other countries!
Rally for Recovery! Organizing Tips
- Advocacy Action Areas: You can set up an Advocacy Action Area at your event where recovery advocates can use our Online Advocacy Action Center to email members of Congress about health reform; register to vote and take action in your community.
- Recovery Voices Count: Find out how to register voters, invite candidates and use our 2010 Recovery Voices Count nonpartisan civic engagement campaign as part of your Recovery Month event here.
- Rally for Recovery! organizing network call: The last call will be on August 26 at 1:00 pm Eastern on media outreach. Email us to participate.
- Recovery Month 2010 Public Service announcements: Check them out on YouTube and the 2010 Recovery Month Tool Kit for tips on organizing events in your community.
