Our Staff

Faces & Voices is pleased to welcome Sarah Rayer as our new Outreach Coordinator. You'll be hearing from her about upcoming trainings and other activities. And we're pleased to announce that in January, Tom Hill, who has been working part-time as Faces & Voices Director of Programs, will be coming on full-time to continue our work on health reform implementation, peer recovery support services and accreditation of recovery community organizations. For the last year, Tom's been dividing his time between Faces & Voices and the Altarum Institute's Access to Recovery and Recovery Community Services Program technical assistance projects.

Webinar: Block Grant Funding in Support of Peer-Run Organizations and Services

Mental Health America is presenting a webinar on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from 3:00 - 4:30 PM EST on the use of Block Grant funding to support peer-run organizations and services. Find out about:
- Federal block grants, including recent changes to the program and the application process.
- State authorities that use block grant funding in support of recovery-oriented peer run services.
- State authorities that do not support these services through the use of federal block grant funding.

Recovery Community Organization News

The National Alliance for Medication-Assisted Recovery's (NAMA-Recovery) Medication-Assisted Recovery Service (MARS) Project provides peer recovery support services to people whose recovery from opiate addiction is assisted by medication. Located at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a new collaboration will create and offer training manuals, videos and other materials to document the methodology of the MARS Project and assist eight opioid treatment programs in replicating MARS and incorporating recovery programming into their programs. Recovery Community Centers. There are over 24 recovery community centers in New England alone. December marked the first anniversary of the Anchor Recovery Community Center. During its first year in operation, there were close to 50,000 visits. Rhode Island's statewide recovery community organization, RICAREs, has a growing presence at Anchor, with two new recovery community centers in the planning stages.
