Northeast Regional Representative: Betty Currier
Betty is a member of Friends of Recovery of Delaware and Otsego Counties, Inc. and the Director of the Council on Addictions of New York State, Inc. ( CANYS), which supports advocacy and recovery through a growing number of Friends of Recovery – New York groups, supported/sponsored by local councils on alcoholism,. substance abuse and other addictions.
I have been in long-term recovery from alcoholism for over 31 years. This led me to a career in alcohol and other drug prevention and early intervention beginning in 1982, the most gratifying work I could ever imagine. My four children have seen, and experienced in one form or another, the joy of recovery. To ensure the same benefits for my grandchildren and future generations, I am committed to doing my part to end the stigma and discrimination that holds us hostage. I’m proud to be a face and voice for recovery.
