Southern Coast Regional Representative: Bill Layfield
Bill is President of Alabama Voices for Recovery and serves on the coordinating subcommittee of the AL Dept. of Mental Health/Mental Retardation/Substance. In 2005 Governor Riley appointed him to serve on the Commission for Prevention and Treatment of Substance Abuse for Alabama.
I am a grateful recovering alcoholic and through God's grace celebrated 26 years of sobriety last September. Since I retired from the business world in 2000 I have been working full time with the Drug Education Council (DEC) of Mobile. Through my work with the DEC I am able to share my experience, strength, and hope with the clients that come to our office or call every day. I am honored to serve on Faces & Voices of Recovery's board and want to do my part to reduce the stigma and discrimination that affects all of us in recovery.
