Massachusetts Recovery Month Event
WWLP-TV
September 22, 2006
SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) - September is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. Community members gathered Thursday afternoon in Springfield's Magazine Park for the fifth annual Western Massachusetts Recovery Month event. It was entertainment with a purpose. An effort to help raise awareness of the need for drug and alcohol treatment. Recovering Addict and Rally Coordinator Maryanne Frangules spoke from her own experiences to inspire others. Frangules said, "What we want to do is show that we are alive, visible, vocal, and we are valuable and victorious." About 2,500 adults and teenagers receive treatment each day through 30-programs throughout New England.
