Hope Walk and Rally touts recovery and helping others

Terre Haute, Ind. (WTHI) - Faces of recovery came out in full force Saturday as recovering addicts celebrated their triumphs over addiction.

A crowd of nearly 100 people-including Terre Haute Police officers, medical providers, local government officials, and recovering addicts and their friends and families- met early for a walk and rally at Indiana State University's Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute Saturday morning.

Former addict Les Rivera told News 10 that reaching out to current addicts and showing the public that recovery is possible was two large goals of the rally.

"They [the public] see all the addicts. They see all the trouble. They see all the bad. But today we get a chance to show them some of the good. We get a chance to show them that there are people that are making it," Rivera said.

Several recovery programs were on hand Saturday.
